Dvb t2 digital television of the second generation. Digital terrestrial television DVB-T2

With the advent of the era of digital terrestrial television, many cable and satellite networks began to think more and more often about connecting free broadcasting. Indeed, according to the Federal Target Program on the development of a digital broadcasting network, in open access will appear more than twenty television channels in excellent quality absolutely free. Which includes mandatory federal television channels.

The question arises - how to connect digital terrestrial television at home?

There's nothing complicated about it. To receive digital terrestrial television you will need any standard subscriber equipment DVB-T2/MPEG-4 with mode support Multiple PLP and UHF antenna ( DMV) range. The antenna can be either collective (installed on the house, also called a common antenna) or individual, installed directly in your house or apartment. Depending on the distance to the transmitting center, you must select the desired antenna. They are divided into active (with an amplifier) and passive. When purchasing an antenna, you can first check the power of the transmitting equipment installed in your region and the distance to the transmitting center. Based on the data obtained, select an antenna.

Approximate coverage radius of transmitting stations:
10 W– about 3 km;
50 W– about 5 km;
100 W– about 15 km;
500 W– about 25 km;
1 kW– about 30-35 km;
2 kW– about 35-40 km;
5 kW– about 40 – 50 km.

Let's move directly to the reception equipment. Three main groups can be distinguished: televisions with a built-in DVB-T2 tuner, set-top boxes of the same standard, and digital computer DVB-T2 tuners. Their settings are similar, if not the same.

Video: how to set up DVB-T2 digital terrestrial television

It is best to connect a digital terrestrial set-top box according to the manufacturer's instructions; it is almost impossible to make a mistake there. You can also watch the official video from RTRS:

A few recommendations, also from RTRS:
connect the antenna cable plug and, if necessary, the digital set-top box to the TV;
connect auto channel search - the TV will tune to the corresponding digital terrestrial channel, when tuning to a channel in manual mode it is necessary to indicate the channel frequency (for example, 35 TV channel, 685 MHz);
in the majority digital TVs(and set-top boxes) have a built-in signal level and quality indicator, which will allow you to optimally configure your antenna to receive a digital terrestrial signal (see the operating instructions for your TV).

On TVs with a built-in DVB-T2 tuner, all manipulations are carried out through the TV menu. There shouldn't be any difficulties there either.

We recommend updating software of your subscriber equipment to the most up-to-date. This can be done in specialized services, or yourself (if you are confident in your abilities). The software can usually be downloaded from the manufacturer's official websites.

To set up equipment to receive a DVB-T2 signal, specialists are usually invited. But any technically literate man can do this on his own. To do this, you need to know the frequencies of DVB-T2 digital channels.

Digital terrestrial television(DTTV) is a special technology for transmitting image and sound through digital signal coding using digital channels. The main difference between digital encoding and analog is that digital ensures signal delivery with minimal losses. In this case, video image and sound are protected from any external factors (interference).

Another important advantage of a digital signal is the increase in channel capacity when receiving data. Digital data can be compressed, making it possible to transmit a large number of television channels in best quality and with additional information(subtitles, audio tracks). CETV technologies include interactivity (the ability feedback with the audience). The TV audience can not only view content, but also participate in surveys, vote for someone in some competitions, etc.

The transition to CETV is being carried out in many countries around the world. Residents of the most remote and sparsely populated villages and hamlets, who previously had the opportunity to watch only 1-2 channels, can now receive 15 or more channels in good quality on their TVs.

Digital terrestrial radio and television stations in the latest European standard DVB-T2 are being launched. This is being done as part of a general project to transition from analogue to digital broadcasting. In the CIS countries (Russia, Kazakhstan and others) this is done under a special government order.

The main advantages of using digital modular radio television stations of the DVB-T2 standard:

  • increasing the stability of signal transmission and recording paths to various types of interference;
  • reduction of transmitter power;
  • an increase in the number of TV programs broadcast in the same range;
  • improving picture and sound quality on TVs;
  • creation of TV systems with new image standards (high-definition television);
  • development of interactive TV systems;
  • archive and recording of TV programs;
  • transmission of additional information in the TB signal.

For private entrepreneurs who want to engage in pay multi-program television, the service of construction of turnkey digital terrestrial television transceiver stations is available. Technical capabilities of one station medium power allow you to broadcast a signal over a distance of 20-50 km, i.e. The coverage area includes a city with a population of 50-100 thousand people. This a good option commercial solution for small cable television operators, because there is no need for complex and expensive work on laying cables to the subscriber’s apartment.

When connecting to CETV, subscribers have access to more than 20 free channels, including mandatory federal channels.

Settings

To receive DTTV, any subscriber equipment of the DVB-T2/MPEG-4 standard that supports the “Multiple PLP” mode and includes a UHF antenna is required. The antenna can be either collective or individual. There are antennas different types and different powers, they are selected depending on the distance to the transmitter.

Approximate coverage radius of transmitting stations:

  • 10 W – 3 km;
  • 50 W – 5 km;
  • 100 BT – 15 km;
  • 500 W – 25 km;
  • 1 kW – 30-35 km;
  • 2 kW – 40 km;
  • 5 kW – 40-50 km.

Equipment for signal reception can be divided into 3 types:

  • TVs with a built-in DVB-T2 tuner;
  • TVs and separate set-top boxes (receivers) of the DVB-T2 standard;
  • computer tuners of the same standard.

Setting up any of the equipment options is not much different from the others. You can invite a specialist to set it up, or you can do it yourself by studying the instructions on the Internet.

  1. Connect the antenna cable plug and the set-top box to the TV.
  2. Start auto-search for channels - the TV will tune itself to the corresponding digital terrestrial channel. If you configure manually, you will need to specify the frequency of DVB-T2 digital television (for example, 35 TB, 685 Hz).
  3. Most TVs and set-top boxes have a built-in signal level and quality indicator. This makes it possible to optimally tune the antenna. On those TVs that have a built-in DVB-T2 tuner, all actions are performed through the TV menu.

It is recommended to update the software of the subscriber equipment to the most current one. This can be done either in services, or at home, if you invite a specialist. The software can be downloaded from the manufacturer's official website.

When it comes to buying a new TV, most people pay attention only to the quality of the transmitted image, as well as those specifications, on which it depends. The price of the device is also important. But the presence or absence of a digital tuner, as well as its type and quantity, interests few people. Not many people pay attention to this. As a result, when you want to connect and watch DTV for free, problems arise and you have to spend money on buying a DVB-T2 tuner separately.

Today we will look at what a digital tuner is, what it can be and how it works. This will allow you to approach the choice of a new TV more carefully and decide for yourself whether you need such a device, built into the TV or not. Moreover, as already mentioned, a digital tuner can always be purchased separately.

What is DTV T2

Before considering the features and types of tuners that exist on TVs today, you need to understand what, in principle, is this device and why it is needed. Digital tuner- this is a receiver or, as it is also called, a decoder, which allows the TV to directly receive signals various types broadcasts and decipher them.

Many new TV models already have a built-in T2 digital receiver. In addition, there are sections in which there are two tuners at once - T2 and S2. You can find out exactly what type of device is built into your TV by looking at its technical specifications. If you have a built-in decoder that receives a signal of a different format, then the necessary tuner can always be purchased separately.

External tuners are very popular today, since not many Russian citizens have the opportunity to spend a large sum money to buy a new TV, and such a set-top box allows you to expand the capabilities of your existing device. The most popular are T2 format set-top boxes, which allow you to connect and watch digital terrestrial TV channels, as well as a DVB-S2 set-top box. They buy it if they decide to install a satellite TV antenna, but the TV does not have a decoder of this type.

Broadcast Standards

As already mentioned, the tuner built into the TV can receive one or more signals of different broadcast formats. Let's look at the most common options.

  • DVB-T. Such a receiver can receive digital signal television, which transmits a picture of a higher level of quality and clarity. To connect it, you need a regular TV antenna.
  • DVB-T2. This is the second generation of DVB-T decoders, which differs from its predecessor in increased throughput channel, higher signal characteristics and its architecture. In Russia, this DTV signal format is mainly used. It is impossible to receive it through a DVB-T decoder, as these formats are incompatible.
  • DVB-C. A very popular format capable of decoding digital cable television signals. To start using it, you need to insert your provider card into the appropriate slot.
  • DVB-S. With it you can directly connect satellite dish to your TV.
  • DVB-S2. Like T2, S2 is the second generation of DVB-S receivers. S and S2 are also incompatible, so to receive the signal of this type you need a corresponding decoder. Is different this format increased channel capacity and the use of new types of modulation.

When purchasing a TV, you should pay special attention to the labeling. So, you can see the inscription DVB-T2/S2. This means that the TV will be able to receive both terrestrial and satellite digital channels.

Features of DVB-S2 and DVB-T2

Built-in digital tuner satellite television has certain characteristics. In order to watch freely available TV channels, it will not be enough for you to simply connect the satellite dish to the TV directly. You will also need to additionally purchase a CAM module.

The fact is that without it you will not be able to view encrypted channels, but only those that are fully open. This is due to the fact that the companies producing such TVs do not think much about this. In addition, it will be impossible to change the firmware or enter the code. External ones satellite tuners, sold by us, have firmware in which all the necessary codes are already written.

Digital terrestrial television

The main difference between digital terrestrial channels and analogue ones is high quality digital channels (no noise, interference and repetitions) and a clearer picture - high noise immunity. I install antennas on the window in houses, on the side opposite from the Ostankino Tower. The data transfer protocol is designed so that the reflected signal is received without unnecessary data and you see an excellent quality picture.

Digital television DVB-T2 is ideal for large LCD and plasma TVs.

The list of digital terrestrial television channels in Moscow now includes 20 channels.

HOW TO WATCH DIGITAL TERRESTRIAL CHANNELS?

To receive digital terrestrial channels in Moscow and the region, the TV must have a built-in digital tuner of the DVB-T2 standard (see technical specifications of the TV). Otherwise, you will have to buy an additional DVB-T2 receiver, which connects to any TV via HDMI or composite (tulips or scart) input.

Digital reception ethereal channels carried out on external antenna UHF range. In your apartment building cable home network (Akado, OnLime, etc.), most likely these digital TV channels will be on other (cable) TV frequencies that do not coincide with air frequencies given in the table. You need to start auto-search for channels.

If the distance from the transmitter (Ostankino TV tower in Moscow and Moscow region) to the TV is less than or about 20 km, then reception is possible with an indoor UHF antenna. Otherwise, you will have to use an external UHF antenna, possibly with an amplifier. It all depends on the installation height of your antenna and the distance to the TV tower. With a good outdoor UHF antenna with a low-noise amplifier, reception of digital terrestrial channels is possible at a distance of more than 80 km from the television tower.

Installing a TV antenna, accessible to all TV viewers, allows you to get digital television in Moscow, broadcasting is carried out in the dvb-t2 standard. The analogue broadcast system is becoming a thing of the past and will be completely switched off in the near future. The reason for this is the improvement of radio frequency technologies. If previously no more than 18 programs were broadcast from the Ostankino tower, then in 2016 there are already 30. The channels operate digitally and are grouped in groups of 10 on one frequency, this package is called “Multiplex”.

  1. First multiplex Ostankino TVK 30, frequency 546 MHz
  2. Second multiplex Ostankino TVK 24, frequency 498 MHz
  3. Test third multiplex Ostankino TVK 34, frequency 578 MHz

For local repeaters, broadcast parameters may differ. The Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation provides for the widespread launch of twenty federal, free channels. You will find towers under construction and operating in the Moscow region in the right block of the current page.

Reception of digital television in Moscow is possible on any televisions, with the difference that for older models you will need a dvb-t2 receiver. This is a small set-top box with a separate remote control through which it is controlled. The signal from the antenna is supplied to the receiver, and you can connect it to the TV using a “tulip” or “scart” cord. How to set up the receiver is described in the user manual. New types of flat TV panels already have a built-in tuner, look for dvb-t2 in the specifications and try to find digital channels. If it doesn’t work, check the cable connection and find out if you have regular cable TV in your home.

The main part of the equipment set is the antenna; the quality of terrestrial television reception depends on its power. For Moscow, an antenna with medium gain is usually sufficient. In some cases, a more powerful option is required. This happens when a country cottage, a private house or the cottage is located in a lowland and surrounded by tall trees. The distance to the tower also plays an important role. Installation is desirable in the highest part of the house; installation is carried out on a small bracket or steel mast. The price of the work will vary depending on the complexity; the exact cost is calculated by the master according to the standard price list, taking into account current discounts and promotions. The connection is made to the existing cabling using an amplifier and dividers. The master can arrive the very next day after receiving the order.
