What should I do? My Lumia 625 doesn't work. What to do if Nokia Lumia does not turn on? Windows Phone connects to Wi-Fi, but the Internet does not work

Website nokiaconnects.com 10 valuable tips that will be useful for every Nokia Lumia smartphone user to read about. The tips are based on discussions on various topics on the Nokia Support Discussions forum.

1. Pressing the volume button during a call mutes the sound, but does not reset the call.

2. If you press and hold the camera shutter button, the camera app will open even if your phone is locked.

3. If you open the calculator and flip your phone to landscape mode, the calculator will turn into a scientific calculator.

4. You can add additional languages to the layout. To do this, go to “Settings” > “Keyboard Language” and select the required languages there.

5. To turn off autocorrection, go to Settings > Keyboard Language, tap Input Settings, tap “tap to change,” and uncheck “Correct misspelled words.”

6. You don't need a separate app to create a to-do or shopping list. You can use standard Office for this purpose. Go to Office, select notes, add a new note by clicking the “+” icon, write what you need to do and pin it to the start page.

7. If you know there's a new version of an app but it doesn't show you that it's available, you can force download it (if it's available in your country). Find it in the market, click the "send" button, then click the return button and you will see an update button appear.

8. If your battery starts draining faster than usual, disable the option to speed up connection to services in your phone's search settings. The phone finder service will continue to work, but less power will be consumed.

9. : If you have problems connecting to the Internet via mobile or sending MMS, use a special application for setting up network connections, which can be found in the Nokia section of the market.

10. If the battery is completely drained, the phone will turn on faster if you connect it to a computer rather than a charger.

This article was shared with us by our reader, an active user of Nokia products, Andrey @SpeedFire _ Kurapov. We hope that with these instructions you will be able to save your phone. The instructions for restoring Lumia 820 are almost the same. By the way, our instructions for flashing these devices can also help.

Below is the text of Andrey Kurapov, corrected by us as carefully as possible.

Background

As you can imagine, I had no intention of writing this article. He lived without knowing troubles, he used his Lumia 920 For more than a month now, I thought that our love was mutual, and that it would never let me down. But today THIS happened! In the morning, I took the phone off the charger, left the house, and was about to turn on the music in my Nokia Essence Bluetooth stereo headset (by the way, I highly recommend it), but the music from the headset did not turn on. I took out the phone - the screen is black and does not respond to the power button. From the depths of the subconscious it emerged that I needed to hold some buttons. I pressed everything in a row - it doesn’t work. Well, I got upset, threw it in my pocket, took off the headset and went. After about five minutes I decided to check what was wrong with it - wow, it turned on itself and is functioning quite well. The way to work was saved - music and a movie passed the way as usual.

But the joy was premature. A little later in the day, the phone turned off again for no reason and this time it didn’t respond to anything at all. Sadness visited me.

Having compared the facts and analyzed what was unusual on this or last day, I found out that it was last night that the phone was completely discharged for the first time ever. That is, I usually have time to charge it in the evening, but I didn’t have time here. At the moment, I believe that this is precisely the main reason.

Treatment

Judging by the forums, there are several forms of disabling the phone. As far as I understand, in most cases the phone goes into a “mild coma” and you can get it out of this state relatively painlessly: you need Press the volume down button and the power button simultaneously for 10 seconds. This is the so-called soft-reset (easy reset), and for most it helps to quickly bring the Lumia back to life.

If it doesn’t help, then you can try to do a hard reset. After this, all phone data and settings will be erased: Press the Camera + Volume Down + Power buttons after the vibration is triggered, release the Power button, and hold the remaining buttons for another 5-6 seconds.

Cardinal treatment

But this is all theory from the forum. My phone did not respond at all to any of the above methods. And the only signs of life that it showed were the detection of the device in Windows when connected via a USB cable (the so-called dead mode).

As a result, I had to take the most serious measures to resuscitate. I aimed to reflash the phone in dead mode.

Warning! Generally speaking, flashing the firmware on your own will theoretically void your warranty, so the phone manufacturer usually suggests that you take the phone in for service and you wait up to 35 days for it to be fixed. So you do everything that follows at your own peril and risk. (At the same time, in reality, I have not heard of anyone being deprived of this guarantee, since it is very difficult to understand whether you have flashed the phone or not. But I warned you anyway).

I had already flashed Symbian phones before, so I wasn’t afraid of the process. The alternative of going to a service center made me much less happy. So I decided to try it. At the same time, install the Portico firmware, which I’ve been waiting for a long time. So what do we do?

For those who know English, the basic steps are described in the video below. But! I did it a little differently.

Well, now step by step.

Step 1: Download the firmware

Probably many of you know that previously it was possible to download firmware from the NaviFirmPlus program. At the end of January 2013, this method was reportedly closed. Therefore, the first thing you need to do is find the firmware. Using Yandex, I pretty soon found the Russian version of Portico on one of the forums. Direct link for Lumia 920 below:

Download it and unpack it.

Step 2: Install Nokia Care Suite

Now you need to install the Nokia Care Suite service program (not to be confused with Nokia PC Suite). I think the best place to download it is this site:

Please note that the program requires the .NET Framework and VC++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable components. I first tried to install Nokia Care Suite without them under Windows 8, but some inexplicable error always occurred during the VC++ installation. Therefore, I highly recommend that you first download the files from the Requirements section (two links labeled Here) and install them. After this, the installation will go smoothly. When you try to download the site it will be intimidating, but you need to select “Download” and then “Download anyway”. Everything will be fine.

Then download Nokia Care Suite itself using the link “download Nokia Care Suite from Here”. At the time of writing this article, the direct link looked like this: http://nokiacaresuite.googlecode.com/files/Nokia%20Care%20Suite%205.0.msi

Install Nokia Care Suite by entering all the required data.

Step 3: Copy Firmware

Now you need to copy the files of our firmware downloaded in Step 1 to the desired location. More precisely at the following address:

C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products\rm-821\

The ProgramData folder is hidden, so either make hidden folders appear or go directly to this link.

The rm-821 folder may be missing. If so, create it and copy all the firmware files from Step 1 into it. There should be no subfolders; all unpacked files should be in the rm-821 folder.

If you do not have a Lumia 920, then you need to know your model number RM-xxx and create the appropriate folder.

So the firmware has been copied to the folder - we begin the recovery process.

Step 4: Recovery

Open Nokia Care Suite.

If there is no icon on your desktop, you can launch it from here:

32-bit system: C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Application Launcher\bin\

64-bit system: C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Application Launcher\bin\

Select the item “Prioduct Support Tool For Store 5.0”. It's trying to ask for a password. In the drop-down menu, select not Pro, but External and it will let you in without a password.

Now we connect the phone via USB

Warning! This may not be relevant anymore, but it used to be very important to connect the USB cable correctly. This is important when flashing firmware. Connect the USB cable directly to the computer from the back of the system unit (where the motherboard connectors are). DO NOT connect via extension cords, DO NOT connect to the connectors on the front of the case, and just in case, connect to a USB 2.0 connector and not a USB 3.0 connector.

After connecting, the smartphone will most likely be detected by the program and you will be able to see its picture. Next, I did something that unexpectedly revived my dead phone even before the firmware process began. In the Product Mode menu I selected the option PowerOff. The phone suddenly vibrated, the Nokia sign appeared, and without feeling any guilt at all, it simply booted up as if nothing had happened.

But I decided that since I’ve gotten to this point, it’s worth flashing to new firmware at the same time (upon flashing all the settings will be lost and you’ll have to set everything up again, so think about whether you want this).

Step 5: Firmware

Select File – Open Product from the menu and find our phone. Select its code, which must match the name of the folder from Step 3 (in our case RM-821):

– If the phone is still dead and does not turn on, then select Recovery, and then Start. This was not the case for me, but judging by the video from the link given at the very beginning, you must first hold down the Volume Down + Power buttons for 10 seconds, and when it starts to reboot, hold the Volume Up button. Then the gears will appear and you can reflash them.

– If you are lucky like me and the phone has already come to life (or was alive right away), then choose Refurbish and press Start. After this, the phone will enter the desired mode and flash itself.

Here you go. If everything worked out, then we can enjoy the live phone with the new firmware. Congratulations!

Step 6: Afterword

Windows Phone has a rather unpleasant feature. Be prepared for it. When setting up your phone for the first time, the system does not prompt you to set up Wi-Fi. Therefore, if after flashing the firmware you use the backup recovery function, be prepared that the phone will start downloading all the data through your operator’s network. It’s good if you have an unlimited tariff, but what if you don’t? This, of course, is an absolutely unthinkable flaw that Microsoft urgently needs to correct by adding the choice of a Wi-Fi access point at the very beginning of setup.

That's all! Good luck in reviving and reflashing the devices!

A review of the Nokia Lumia 520, of all “lumies” in general, or of OS Windows Phone 8 - it’s hard to say what is the best title for this article. However, in our case, the problem manifested itself precisely in the Nokia Lumia 520, so we’ll start with that.

I gave this yellow smartphone to my wife for her birthday earlier this month. The device is certified for Russia (Rostest). On the same day, we went to the MTS store to exchange a regular SIM card for a microSIM. Exchanged. Since then, the experience of using the device began. By the way, the firmware on the smartphone is up to date: updates were immediately installed “over the air” through the corresponding menu.

The problem appeared on the second day: an outgoing call was made, the connection was established, but there was silence in the conversational dynamics, the interlocutor could not be heard. Calling back did not help, the sound reappeared only after rebooting the phone.

We thought - it doesn’t happen to anyone, the device is complex, it malfunctioned, or maybe it’s an MTS or SIM card problem. But a day later the situation repeated itself - already with an incoming call. The phone with the ringer on simply vibrated; when answered, there was deathly silence in the speaker. The microphone most likely didn't work either. The second call led to the same thing. Again, only a reboot helped.

Of course, we were upset, but considering that rebooting helps, we decided that the issue was clearly of a software nature and it was worth waiting for software updates. Moreover, two weeks have already passed and it will not be possible to return the smartphone to the store.

Two more days passed, then my wife was listening to music with headphones on her smartphone, and at that moment I called her: again the same problem - I couldn’t be heard, I couldn’t hear her either. She tried speaking both through a headset and without it. After the connection was interrupted, the music did not start playing either - the device generated some kind of error. At least with headphones, at least without. A reboot helped, but literally half an hour later the problem appeared again! At the same time, I myself had been tormenting the device for a long time, trying to find a way out - the music in the player would not play (the smartphone tried to open each track for a long, long time, but to no avail), and I also could not listen to the ringtone. There was no sound coming through the headphones either (the conclusion is that the speaker itself is working). And, of course, the phone did not ring when there was an incoming call, but only blinked the screen, and after picking up the phone the speaker remained dead.

An attempt to adjust the volume, change the melody, turn off 3G Internet or switch the phone to 2G mode, disable the energy saving mode and other manipulations did not lead to anything. Only reboot. At the same time, the phone is practically “clean” - contacts are loaded, mail is configured to work, Skype is installed, Mail agent is installed and that’s it. No viruses for you.

I decided to turn to Nokia for help. To do this, I went to their official website and in the “Contact” section, I selected “Visit support page.” There is a field “Need additional support” with the column “Enter the serial number (IMEI) of your phone”, which I did, having found out the name by *#06#, after which I logged in with my Microsoft account and I had the opportunity to chat with a specialist Nokia technical support via online chat.

The girl answered all my questions regarding the described bug quite tactfully and skillfully. Her opinion is that the problem is the new SIM card, which was incorrectly registered in the phone software. She had not heard anything about the jamb I was describing, the problem was not widespread (according to her information), so I was asked to make a backup of all data and perform a general reset of the phone to factory settings. Thus, the software will be completely reset and the glitch should disappear. In principle, the usual solution proposed by any support service is: a) do a general reset b) replace the SIM card.

We listened to the advice and did a general reset. Of course it didn't help - Today the situation repeated itself again. The phone rang, but after answering there was silence, no voice could be heard. The chime is just vibration and the same silence in the speaker, the microphone also does not work.

At the same time, I Googled this topic, asking the search engine queries such as “nokia lumia sound disappears”, “nokia lumia speaker sound disappears”, etc. As a result, I realized that the problem is quite widespread and apparently only the manufacturer himself does not know about it (as usual, however). Let me give you examples:

1. Question/answer on the Microsoft website regarding the Lumia 920 - answers.microsoft.com:

2. Question/answer on an unofficial site dedicated to Nokia Lumia - lumiaru.com:

3. In the same place, but about another model - Lumia 720:

4. Discussion on the forum dedicated to Windows Phone - w7phone.ru:

5. Discussion of Nokia Lumia 520 on the famous resource w3bsit3-dns.com:

6. Discussion of a similar bug in Lumia 920 on the official Nokia technical support forum:

And that's not it. Previously, I found an example of the problem of sound loss in the FAQ on the website of the Windows Phone operating system itself. The solution was to make a general reset or stomp into the SC. Just the point?

I also came across a topic on some forum with exactly the same jamb, only on a Windows smartphone made by HTC.

Conclusion: The described problem is not only with Nokia Lumia, but with Windows Phone 8 in general. Or a Windows glitch appears with a certain application. Possibly a problem with some specific micro-SIM cards (MTS?), although the sound disappeared not only during the communication session, but also simply while listening to music. That is, the buyer of any smartphone on this operating system is not insured against this trouble. And the jamb is clearly not new, but it is very, very sad, and when it will finally be found, understood and corrected, science does not yet know. Maybe never. But still we wait and hope. Because, frankly speaking, I don’t see the point in taking a smartphone to a service center - the malfunction is most likely software, and there is simply no cure for it yet. Unless you flash your smartphone to custom firmware at home and lose the official warranty. Maybe it will help, but I can’t say for sure - I haven’t tried it. Or this case is individual, therefore it concerns only the nth audience of users of certain applications. Wait and see.

PS. I asked a question about the problem on the official Nokia support forum. My topic was pasted as a message to a whole thread of similar victims. The only complaint is that the sound disappears. As an assumption, the situation is typical for those who have Mail Agent or ICQ installed. In our case there is a Mail agent. Now let's take it down and test it. Then I’ll write back as an addition to the article. Discussion at the link.

Update from December 24, 2013

So, uninstalling the Mail Agent application is indeed solved the problem: Over the past 5 days, the sound on the smartphone has no longer disappeared. What conflicts with what - Mail Agent with Windows Phone or Windows Phone with Mail Agent - remains behind a veil of secrecy. However, the tablet was found, so if you are worried about the same problem, you can eliminate it by simply demolishing the crooked application.

In modern Nokia phone models, such as Lumia 720, 1020, 925, 920, 625 and so on, we find more and more advanced technologies.

Unfortunately, from time to time they may refuse to obey us and freeze. If you are one of the owners of Nokia Lumia models, see below how to deal with this problem.

When your Nokia Lumia is not responding - it's frozen, then the easiest way to bring it back to life is to remove the battery.

Unfortunately, some of the Nokia Lumia phones have a built-in battery, so this option will not be available to you.

This may happen on the splash screen, on the logo when turned on, or during operation when it does not respond to anything - then use one of the reset methods described below.

NOTE: a Nokia keyboard, for example, 210.2, can also freeze, but the methods below will not always work, there are other technologies. What is provided here applies to those that work on Windows Phone.

Nokia Lumia is frozen - do a soft reset

Its task is only to reboot the phone and restore it to a working state.

This is a non-invasive way to reset your phone without losing all your data and images. How to do it?

If your phone does not respond to normal presses of the power button, press and hold it while holding down the volume down key for a few seconds.

After some time, the phone should vibrate and restart. Unfortunately, in difficult cases, this method may not be effective. Then try a hard reset.

Nokia Lumia phone freezes - do a hard reset

Using this method, you need to remember that after this operation, all data on the phone will be deleted.

This can only be done when the phone is turned off. If this is the case, then press and hold three buttons at the same time: volume down, power and camera.

Wait for vibration to appear and release the power button. Then do not release the volume down and camera buttons for about 5 seconds. Next, the process of restoring factory settings will begin.

NOTE: The above applies to Windows Phone 7. If you have Windows Phone 8, read below.

Be sure to turn off the phone, press “Power” + “Volume Down” and hold it until it vibrates.

When vibration starts, immediately release “Turn on” and hold “Volume” until an exclamation mark appears on the screen.

Now press the combination “Volume (+)”, “Volume (-)”, “Power on”, “Volume (-)” once in succession. After this, recovery will begin.

Why do Nokia phones freeze?

Most often, Nokia phones freeze due to memory. For example, in Lumiya 720 it is only 512 MB.

Therefore, they need to be cleaned of “junk” from time to time, otherwise they will start to freeze (try to have 50% free).

They can also freeze due to a software glitch. Then usually the problem is solved by flashing it, which is not difficult to do yourself.

Nokia can also freeze due to hardware reasons. For example, through the failure of some component.

What to do? Send it for diagnostics, since without special equipment it is most often impossible to find out the cause.

Of course, other reasons cannot be ruled out, but these are individual, not typical. Good luck.

Thank you, a soft reset helped me.

    Answer

IT’S VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WITHOUT COMMUNICATION, THANK YOU, SOFT RESET HELPED ME!

Any technology is subject to failures and operational errors. Smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile are no exception. If your Nokia, Microsoft Lumiya or other phone on the “ten” does not turn on or is frozen, then read this article to the end, perhaps you will find a suitable solution.

First of all, don't panic. And you don’t need to immediately run to the service center, where they will probably charge you quite a lot of money for fixing some minor error. Try the methods described below first and if they do not help, then you can think about going to a service center.

Regardless of whether your Lumiya is frozen or does not turn on at all, you can restart the phone by simultaneously pressing two buttons: Volume down keys and lock keys (on/off). Press and hold these buttons for 15-20 seconds. Before this procedure, connect the charger to the device!

If everything worked out, the smartphone display should go dark, and then vibrate briefly after 1-2 seconds. After this it will reboot.

    Factory reset

Even if the phone is completely frozen, you can reset its settings to the factory state. How to do it? Press and hold simultaneously volume up and on/off keys. After this, an exclamation mark should appear. If this happens, then you need to do the following:

    1. Click the add volume button;
    2. Turn down the volume;
    3. On/off button;
    4. And turn the volume down again.

    Flashing

You can fix the error due to which your Windows 10 smartphone freezes or does not turn on by flashing it. You can do this using the official utility from Microsoft, it’s called Windows Device Recovery Tool.

In fact, these methods are relevant for all Lumia smartphones (925, 920, 625, 520, 720, 640, 800, 1020, 510, 635, 630, 710, 730, etc.) and other phones running on Windows Phone and on Windows 10 Mobile.

Is there a Flash Player for Windows smartphones and is it needed at all?
