The printer only prints the last page. HP printer prints only one copy of a page instead of several

Today I will write about a problem that I personally encountered not long ago, namely: the printer prints one page, it ignores the number of specified copies to print and prints only one. In this case, the problem occurred with the HP 1320 printer, but it can occur not only with models and devices from this manufacturer. Usually in this situation the user begins to delve into the settings of the program from where printing is done; reinstall drivers, etc. If he is not very knowledgeable about computer technology, then he calls professionals who are not shy about taking “decent” payment for their work. However, you can easily avoid losing your nerves and money and use my instructions. After this, your printer will stop printing one page or copy at a time and will continue to work fully. The method for fixing the problem is extremely simple; even an untrained user can use it. If the problem does not go away, you can use more complex methods to resolve the error at the end of the article.

The printer only prints one page

So, if we start to understand our problem, when the printer only prints one copy. There are several solutions to resolve this error. I'll start with the most obvious and simple ones, and if this doesn't help you, then you can try to fix the problem in less in obvious ways, which I will also talk about.

Changing the printer print processor

Most often, it is enough to change the printer’s print processor so that our printer starts printing the entire document again and stops ignoring the number of specified copies.

How to change the printer's print processor?

After this, the problem should disappear. If the error remains, proceed to the next step.

Disabling Mopier Mode

If your printer does not print multiple copies and only prints one page, then quite often this is due to the fact that the “Mopier” mode is enabled in the settings of your device. What is this mode and why is it used?

Mopier mode reduces the amount of network traffic between your computer and printer. Thus, the computer does not send each copy of your document to the printer separately (for example, if you have 100 copies specified, then each copy is sent to the printer as a separate “file”), but sends one copy of the document and “indicates” the required number of copies. However, such a document ultimately takes up quite a large amount of space in the memory of the printing device, and sometimes the printer or MFP may simply not have enough memory. In this case The printer only prints one page of the document, and ignores the rest. In this case, you need to disable this mode

How to disable Mopier mode?

Exactly this method helped me cope with the problem that arose. Many older printers suffer from having a small amount of memory and therefore cannot print “voluminous” documents with a large number of copies with the “Mopier” mode enabled. Also, this error may appear if you are using a print server (as in my case)

Clearing the printer's print queue

If the previous methods did not help you and your printer is still printing one page at a time, you can try clearing the printer's print queue. Usually it is located along this path:

%windir%\System32\spool\printers

i.e. this is usually the way C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool

You need to go into the folder and delete all files from it. In addition, you can download a bat file, which will clear the printer's print queue. You just need to run it as an administrator and it will do the job for you.

Removing the printer and installing a new driver

So, is the printer still printing one copy at a time? Try removing the printer from the Control Panel and installing the latest driver.

  • Go to “Control Panel”, then “Devices and Printers”, right-click on your printer icon and select “Uninstall”
  • After that, download the driver for your printer from the manufacturer’s website and install. For HP you can download the “Universal HP Driver”
  • Install the driver and check if this action fixed your problem

Can't print multiple copies from Word

In addition to the methods listed, here are a few more tips that Microsoft gives if you only manage to print one copy at a time from Office Word. I explained in the text above how to access the printer driver properties.

  1. Disable background printing in Microsoft WordWord Options» - "Advanced" - "Print" - uncheck "Print in background"
  2. Disable the print queue in the printer driver properties (select the “Print directly to printer” mode)
  3. Change the graphics mode from vector to raster in the printer driver properties
  4. Press CTRL + END to go to the end of the document. On the Insert tab, select Page Break to add a page break to your document. Add a blank page after the break (you can do this by pressing Enter several times, placing the cursor after the break). This can also help if you need to print multiple copies but only one prints.
  5. Install latest version printer drivers from the manufacturer's official website

So, today we learned several ways to get rid of the error when the printer prints only one page, prints one copy. I hope that my article helped you get rid of this problem.

I encountered a problem that the HP printer prints only one copy of a page, no matter how many copies are set in the settings when sending for printing. It seems that the field with the setting that indicates the number of copies of the document is simply ignored by the printer (or its driver).

The printer uses the latest available version of the HP Universal Driver, downloaded from the manufacturer's website, so there was no point in updating the printer driver.

Mopier mode

If you open the content .prn file that the printer generates when sending for printing, in the print settings you can see the following useful information(highlighted in yellow).

@PJL SET QTY=2 number of copies
@PJL SET PROCESSINGBOUNDARY=MOPY MOPY mode

After searching the HP forums, I discovered that the problem may be related to the mode enabled in the driver Mopier(stands for multiple original copy). This mode involves reducing traffic between the computer and the printer when, when printing several copies of pages, only one copy of the job is transferred to the printer and the QTY parameter indicates how many times this job needs to be printed. But there is one thing here BUT. For this mode to work correctly, the printer must have sufficient internal memory or hard drive to store the job. Many younger models of HP printers (HP LaserJet 1160, HP 1200, HP 1320 and others) simply do not have such memory or there is not enough of it.

Therefore, the received job is immediately printed as soon as the page is received from the computer, and the printer cannot print it again from its memory.

Disabling Mopier mode on an HP printer

In this case, you need to disable Mopier mode.

  1. Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers-> open properties necessary printer HP.
  2. Go to the tab Device Settings
  3. Scroll down the list and in the section Installable add-ons(Installable Options) find the item mopier mode(Mopier Mode) and disable it (Off/Disabled)
  4. Save your changes.

After this, when sending several copies for printing, several identical jobs will be generated and sent over the network.

If your printer has internal HDD, but jobs from the local cache when Mopier mode is enabled are not sent for printing, in the same section of the printer settings, check whether the option is disabled:

Printer Hard disk(Memory device) - Not installed(Not installed)

Turn it on.

Changing the printer print processor

If disabling Mopier mode does not solve the problem of printing only one copy of a page, try changing the printer's print handler.

For this:

  1. In the printer properties, go to the tab Additionally(Advanced)
  2. Click on the button Print handler(Print Processor)
  3. In the list of print processors, change the current processor from HP to the standard print processor from Microsoft - winprint
  4. Save changes

Today I’ll tell you about another puzzle with Windows 7 OS and Microsoft Office 2013. Although this problem is often observed not only in the office, but also in other applications where there is printing output. A user contacted me with the following problem: The printer does not print more than one copy, no matter how many are specified in the print parameters .

For example, in Word:

In other words, the printer ignores the number of copies or the printer prints only one copy (one copy). This is application independent. The number of copies is ignored both in MS Office (Word, Excel), and in Notepad, CorelDraw, WordPad, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, in browsers and in general in any Windows applications.

Cause:

This is not a bug software, but the problem is specific to the printer and it is caused by the “Mopier” mode enabled by default.

When Mopier mode is enabled, the printer prints multiple collated copies from a single job. Printing an original multiple times improves printer productivity and reduces network traffic by sending a print job only once and storing it in the printer's RAM. The remaining copies are printed at the printer's fastest print speed. Documents can be created, monitored, managed and finalized from the desktop, eliminating the step of using a photocopier.

Printers support Mopier features if sufficient memory is installed in the printer (160 MB DDR plus 32 MB on the formatter board). Mopier is enabled by default when Mopier Mode in the Device Options tab is set to Enabled.

Many printer models do not have enough memory to enable Mopier mode and therefore only print one copy.

Solution:

Disable the “Mopier” mode in the printer properties: Printer -> “Printer Properties” -> “Device Settings” tab -> in the settings tree, open “Installed Add-ons” -> opposite the “Mopier Mode” parameter -> select the value “Off” - > and save the changes made:

I tested this method of solving the problem on an HP LaserJet 1320 printer.
