Independent reviews and tests of the program

What's new in the latest version:

  • Added settings for the notation window: show/hide the bar rectangle, bar rectangle color, notation window background color, note line color.
  • Other improvements.

Version 3.3.1:

  • Added support for Yamaha EZ-200 with backlit keys (3.3.1)
  • The following synthesizer models are now also supported: Novis NPN-939, Casio LK-160, LK-165, LK-230, LK-240, LK-280.
  • Going to the next/previous song works not only for the playlist but also for the current directory in the file manager panel.

Version 3.2.6:

  • The lyrics of the songs are displayed in the karaoke window on several lines. In the program settings you can specify the maximum number of lines of the song, but the actual number may be less and depends on the height of the karaoke window.

Version 3.2.3:

  • Improved performance of the built-in file manager (3.2.3)
  • Fixed an encoding problem when displaying MIDI devices on some national versions of Windows XP. (3.2.3)
  • The built-in file manager allows you to conveniently browse local disks and quickly launch midi or karaoke files without adding them to the playlist.
  • Fully compatible with Windows 7.
  • Changing the cursor appearance during long operations.
  • Scrollable on-screen music keyboard
  • Other improvements.

Version 3.1.1:

  • Help system updated.
  • Other improvements.

Version 3.1.0:

  • The playlist now supports unicode (UTF-8) for song names.
  • The control panel on the side has been replaced with a mixer at the bottom.

  • Other improvements.

Version 3.0.3:

  • Improvements in the operation of the training system.
  • The music notation for the selected channel is shown.
  • Improvements in displaying notes for selected channels/tracks (compared to 3.0.0).

Other, earlier improvements:

  • Significantly improved note processing out of range instrument connected to the computer. The piano keyboard has 88 keys, and if for example a 6 octave, 61 key instrument is connected, then 27 keys will be shown in gray on the screen. Notes that fall into the gray zone are now correctly displayed and processed during training.
  • Added training option "Highlight the required keys only after an error." This learning mode is convenient for those who already confidently play the composition they are learning. The option is available only if a synthesizer with a key backlight function is connected to the computer. On the computer screen, the keys are always highlighted.
  • New learning setting - "Volume and duration of notes". You can choose "Like the original (entry level)" or "How you play."
  • Significantly improved learning algorithms. Previously, you had to adjust to a given pace. Now, if you play faster, the “orchestra” adapts to you, and quickly accelerates where it is needed. Learning has become much more comfortable. It is recommended to update to this version.
  • Added training option "Do not highlight keys on the synthesizer". This learning mode is convenient for those who already confidently play the composition they are learning. The option is available only if a synthesizer with a key backlight function is connected to the computer. On the computer screen, the keys are always highlighted.
  • You can select a MIDI instrument to play selected channels.
  • In learning mode to play a synthesizer connected to a computer, it is possible to use the synthesizer itself as the main playback device. That is, now you can learn to play an instrument without using a computer sound card at all.
  • If an external keyboard is not connected to the computer, the selected channels are played on the main MIDI playback device. In this case, volume control for selected channels is available.
  • Improved volume handling for selected channels.
  • Improved stability in training mode. It is recommended to update to this version.
  • Improved work in the synthesizer/MIDI keyboard connection check window.
  • Fixed a defect that, under some computer configurations, resulted in the message "NO CONNECTION", despite successful completion of checks in the settings window.
  • Added playback control buttons. Now available: Play / Pause / Stop / Fast forward / Rewind / Fast forward to the next or previous song in the Playlist.
  • A master volume control has been added to the existing volume control for selected MIDI channels played on the synthesizer.
  • Hotkeys for basic actions and adjustments are now supported. The key combinations are fully compatible with Vanbasco's karaoke player.
  • Transpose by octaves and tones. Now you can shift the part to the right and left by several octaves individually for each MIDI channel. In addition, it is now possible to change the tonality of the entire composition from -12 to +12 tones.
  • The on-screen music keyboard now always displays 88 piano keys. Keys that are not available on a musical instrument connected to the program are displayed in gray.
  • Added support for Casio AP24, AP45, AP80, Casio CDP100, CDP200, Casio CTK800, Casio PX110, PX120, PX200, PX310, PX320, PX410, PX720, PX800 synthesizers and digital pianos.

  • Some improvements have been made to the window for selecting a synthesizer/MIDI keyboard model, setting up and checking connections.
  • Added the ability to select a MIDI device when connected via USB. Previously, the USB MIDI device name was set automatically, but with the release of CASIO's new line of synthesizers in late 2008, different USB-MIDI device names are used on Windows. Now, depending on the synthesizer model, when connecting to USB, the device “MK USB OUT 1” or “USB Audio Device” or “MK USB IN 1” or “USB Audio Device” is used, respectively.
  • Added support for Casio CTK900 synthesizers
  • Added support for Casio LK220, Casio LK270, Casio PX500L Privia synthesizers

Now there are NO restrictions for learning with Casio synthesizers!

It's no secret that tools occupy one of the leading positions in the field of self-paced learning. Almost every synthesizer from the company has an interactive step-by-step training system: in LK series models the keyboard is additionally illuminated, in others the information is displayed on the display. In addition, a number of the latest models (, , ,) allow training using small musical phrases, which practically brings it closer to a regular lesson with a teacher. However, the limited number of compositions built into each synthesizer certainly cannot reflect the diversity of tastes and preferences of students.

What can the new software do?

Now anyone is a happy owner of any synthesizer CASIO who has a training system, with the help of the specified program has the opportunity to choose ANY favorite composition for independent training. Simply load the MIDI file of the desired piece into MIDI4CASIO. In this program, you can select for training any part present in the MIDI file. For example, load the melody of a piece to train the right hand, and for the left hand, indicate the bass part or even the drummer. Next, the program automatically saves the standard MIDI file in the required format. Then you just need to load the result into the synthesizer via USB or SD card. But that's not all.

If the synthesizer has a “phrase-by-phrase” learning system (the models are listed above), then the user can also set his own “cutoffs”, according to which it will be convenient to study the work. For some, it will be more convenient to divide the training into small short episodes, while for others it will be more interesting to learn a whole, say, verse at once.

So now you can study exactly what the user wants - be it foreign rock or classic jazz, modern domestic pop music or folk songs. Moreover, you can study the parts of all instruments participating in the song. It's really cool.
